Unlocking the Path to a Better Lifestyle: Essential Considerations for Rightsizing
Uncovering your motivations for rightsizing and asking the big questions.
Have you decided you want or need to downsize? First, let’s call it “rightsizing” instead of “downsizing”. Whether it’s for you or a loved one, before you jump in and start the move, there are a few things you need to consider.
Start by thinking about what this process means for you mentally. What are your motivations? These can fall into three categories: financial, health, and family. For example, are you rightsizing because you’re retiring and want your money to stretch further? Have you been told that the steps in your house are too much and you need a new space for your health and safety? Did your family members or friends move and you want to be closer to them?
"There are plenty of things you need to consider before deciding to rightsize."
It’s important to understand your motivation ahead of time because this journey may get a little stressful. The only way to get through those stressful times is to focus on why you’re making this move and why rightsizing is the best decision for you.
Once you know your motivation, ask yourself a series of questions. For example, do you want to stay in the area you’re currently in and just change the style of home you’re in? Do you love to travel and need to make sure you’re near an airport? Those are just two examples, and there are plenty more you can and should consider. Click here for a list of other questions.
For now, know that there is a lot more you should know about rightsizing, so I will make a part two to this rightsizing series. In the meantime, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or message me. I would be happy to help you!
