If you're thinking of selling your home, here are the three d's you'll want to focus on as your prepare the house for sale:
1. Deep clean. I’m not just talking about a run-of-the-mill clean where you do a quick wipe-up and vacuum—I mean a truly deep clean. I recommend that you call a professional cleaning service to get your home up to the standard where it can sell for top dollar. Some services specialize in cleaning houses specifically to help them sell on the market. You’d be amazed at how much of a facelift deep cleaning can give your home.
2. Declutter. Take a look around your home and see what knick-knacks you can pack away. It’s easy to accumulate a lot of stuff over time, but getting rid of the extras and storing away the rest is a great way to open up the space of your house. You may also want to get rid of or store any furniture that impedes your home’s walkability.

3. Don’t overimprove. Though it might seem like doing a few expensive remodeling projects will help your home sell for even more, some projects won’t get you a great return on your investment. Have your real estate agent show you pictures of similar homes to see what kinds of improvements they’ve done and get an idea of what’s important to buyers in this market.
