Should You List During the Holidays?
Here are three reasons why you should consider selling during the holidays.
Want to buy a home? Search All Homes
This time of year is one of my most favorites; the air is getting a little cooler, the holidays are an opportunity to visit with family and see friends I may not have seen in a long time, and my birthday is coming up, which makes it that much more special. One of the questions I commonly hear from sellers this time of year is whether they should put their house on the market during the holidays. I recently reached out to fellow real estate agents here in our Virginia area to poll them and ask their opinion on that, and they overwhemingly agree that the holidays are a great time to put your house on the market. Of course, that’s my opinion as well.
There are a few reasons why selling now is a good idea:
1. Your home is decorated. If you like decorating for the holidays, your house will have extra gleam and warmth this time of year that buyers will enjoy. They may be able to picture themselves enjoying the holidays in the home next year.
2. People have more time. This time of year, people are taking time off, and buyers will use that time to look at homes.
3. Buyers are serious. People who are actively looking at homes during this time are serious about finding the perfect property and hoping to move in before the new year, if possible.
People often say they have family coming for the holidays and are wondering how they’ll handle a home sale during that time. You can ask your agent to block off the time you’re spending with family and friends so that you don’t have any showings on those days, and you can enjoy your time with them without worry.
"The holidays are a great time to put your house on the market."
I hope this information helps. From my family to yours, have a happy holiday season and a fantastic, prosperous new year! If you have questions about selling during the holidays or any other real estate matter, call or email me. I would love to help you.
