Learn how one extra payment on your mortgage per year can save you money.

Are you looking for ways to pay off your mortgage sooner? The thought of a 30-year loan and the money spent on interest can be frustrating. Fortunately, there’s a simple way to shorten your loan term: by making just one extra payment each year. This strategy can reduce your mortgage term to about 22 or even 20 years. Aside from saving on interest, you will also build equity in your home faster.

If you want to shorten your mortgage term, consider making that extra payment each year. But before you do, contact the service company where you make your payments and inform them of your plans ahead of time, as there may be special steps you need to take to make that extra payment.
