Here’s what retiring homeowners need to know about aging in place.
I recently talked about selling your house and brought up the idea of aging in place. It's worth considering when you retire, and here's why:
1. You're familiar with the area, have friends and family nearby, and know where everything is located.
2. Your house may need adjustments as you age. You can hire a licensed contractor specializing in remodeling to widen doorways or add a full bath on the first level.
3. Consider installing grab bars in the bathroom for safety and turning a room into a main-level bedroom, allowing you to stay in your home longer.
